Introduced through a limited commercial release in 2026, Precise Product Placement (PPP) builds on BSSi’s Seed Sensing Technology to synchronise in-furrow product application with individual potato seed placement. Products are applied directly on or beside each seed piece, with application switching off between pieces. The spray-on setting is adjustable from 25% to 75%. Operators can monitor performance and adjust settings from the tractor cab using BSSi’s in-house-developed camera system, which shows seed position relative to the nozzle and on-screen placement boundaries. PPP helps growers use inputs more efficiently and reduce application costs. Atlantic AgriTech trials in 2024 and 2025 found that targeted placement reduced liquid starter fertiliser use by 50% without a statistically significant difference in yield. In 2026, BSSi has multiple trials across North America evaluating different products using the PPP system.
