The VSS AMAC Onion Loader (UL) is used to load the harvested onions from the swath into wagons. Here, achieving capacity is very important: loading as many onions as possible at the same time, in the shortest possible time frame. The VSS AMAC Onion Loader stands out for its robustness, simplicity and large capacity. This is (partly) achieved by the long sieve web and high conveyor. The sieve web on the machine has a small diameter turning roller, which picks up the onions from the swath and places them on the sieve web very easily and in a product-friendly way. The small inclination of the sieve web ensures that the onions will not roll back.
And that robustness and simplicity? That is in the use of materials, such as high-quality bearings, but also the fact that the machine has a low maintenance drive (no chains). All functions are also fully electric - hydraulically controllable from the tractor cabin. The machine comes standard with a hydraulic start valve with a Load Sensing (L.S.) connection. The Onion Loader is fitted with dual-air brakes as standard.
VSS Machinebouw now introduces the VSS AMAC Onion Loader with Fall-Through Web. Based on the trusted design, this new version features a fall-through web that removes coarse weed residues during loading. Unwanted debris is separated before onions enter the elevator, ensuring a cleaner product and greater harvesting efficiency.
Next to that the machine solves the growing issue that agricultural entrepeneurs face: new European legislation minimising the use of herbicides to control weeds in onion harvesting. To maintain product quality, the onion loader is equipped with automatic speed control between the sieving web and the fall-through web. This ensures smooth, synchronised movement, reducing the risk of mechanical damage to onions, particularly in weedy or uneven fields.

VSS Machinebouw is introducing a user-friendly onion loader fitted with a fall-through web for the additional removal of coarse weeds. The VSS AMAC Onion Loader itself is a tried-and-tested machine used to load harvested onions from the swath into wagons. Achieving a high capacity is of great importance here: loading as many onions as possible at the same time, in the shortest possible time. The machine with the fall-through web, however, is a new development. The fall-through web is a clever add-on for efficiently separating weeds from the onion harvest.
Added value for the user (in commercial terms, user-friendliness ...)
The fall-through web is positioned above the second web and hedgehog web, separating coarse weed residues from the harvested onions. An automatic speed control system between the sieving web and fall-through web prevents damage and ensures gentle handling, even in weedy fields. Removing weeds at an early stage reduces additional work and costs further along the supply chain. A lightweight, tent-like structure protects all moving parts, ensuring safe operation.
Added value for the further sustainability and professionalization of the potato sector.
The machine has been designed with sustainability, labour savings and cost-efficiency in mind. All onion loaders manufactured from 2023 onwards are already fitted with the option for a drop-through mat. There is therefore no need to purchase a new machine. In addition, the machine offers a solution in line with new legislation restricting the use of herbicides for weed control. In new growing areas with sandy soil, onion fields often suffer from coarse weed species. The VSS AMAC Onion Loader makes it possible to harvest onions from these fields with less waste.
