Potector300 autonomous planting selection robot

Product group: Seeds

The Potector300 is an advanced, autonomous seed potato sorter that detects viral diseases in seed potatoes fully automatically. Using AI technology and smart image recognition, the machine analyses the crop with extreme precision.

The built-in camera dome captures razor-sharp images under consistent lighting conditions thanks to powerful flashes. As soon as a diseased plant is detected, the machine immediately marks it with a dot of lime paint.

With a working width of 3 metres and a capacity of 0.8 hectares per hour, the Potector300 processes large areas in a short space of time. As the robot can be deployed 24 hours a day, growers can continue working day and night. Should support be required, Kverneland Benelux is on hand with Remote Support to monitor the operation remotely and provide assistance.

The machine was developed by H2L Robotics and is marketed and supported by Kverneland Benelux.

Briefly describe what is NEW. This explanation will be submitted to the expert group and will be decisive in the evaluation and selection of the most newsworthy entries. (max. textarea: 600 characters)
The H2L Potector300 takes a process that has, until now, largely been carried out manually and brings it to a fully automated level: the detection of diseased plants in seed potatoes. Whereas growers have traditionally relied on specialist sorters to assess the crop plant by plant, the Potector300 drives autonomously through the field and carries out this selection automatically. The real innovation lies not only in the fact that the machine drives autonomously. Cameras, controlled lighting and artificial intelligence work together to analyse every plant.

Added value for the user (in commercial terms, user-friendliness ...)
The Potector300 takes over most of a labour-intensive and specialised task. Instead of relying on available sorters, the grower can have the sorting carried out automatically. This is particularly valuable at a time when skilled and experienced staff are in short supply.

Added value for the further sustainability and professionalization of the potato sector.
The Potector300 contributes to the further professionalisation and sustainability of seed potato cultivation by automating and digitising a traditionally labour-intensive process. By detecting diseased and abnormal plants early and systematically, growers can take more targeted action. Rather than treating the entire plot in the same way, there is an increasing understanding of where problems actually occur. This is in line with the trend towards more precision-driven and data-driven potato cultivation.
