SMIMO Grinder

Product group: Processing

The rotor inside the SMIMO grinder pulverizes organic matter to a homogeneous pumpable pulp. A sieve inside the hammer mill ensures that the product is only discharged once the particles have the required size. Parts can easily be exchanged and the SMIMO masher is very resistant to aggressive products and substances.

Since the early nineties our SMIMO grinders have frequently been applied in the animal feed and recycling industries. The grinders are suitable for processing potatoes, fruit, vegetables, and foodstuffs to a pumpable substance. This makes them ideally suited to create the right feed products for animal feed and fermenters.

Briefly describe what is NEW. This explanation will be submitted to the expert group and will be decisive in the evaluation and selection of the most newsworthy entries. (max. textarea: 600 characters)
Smicon has invested in a new, fully equipped SMIMO15 test installation for field testing. The installation features infeed and discharge solutions as well as a control system, allowing the entire processing cycle to be simulated under realistic conditions. The facility is compatible with 60 Hz and can therefore also be used internationally for on-site testing. This allows potato processors to extensively test and validate their own waste streams under realistic conditions prior to making an investment.

Added value for the user (in commercial terms, user-friendliness ...)
The SMIMO15 was specifically developed to process waste streams from the potato and vegetable processing industry. With the new test set-up, potato processors can use their own product to test how the machine performs within their specific process. Processing capacity and results can be evaluated under realistic conditions, both at Smicon and on-site. This gives users greater confidence when selecting a solution, reduces investment risk, and helps determine the correct machine configuration and process settings in advance.

Added value for the further sustainability and professionalization of the potato sector.
The SMIMO15 makes it possible to stop treating organic residual streams from potato processing as waste and instead reuse them as a valuable raw material. After processing, suitable organic streams can, for example, be used for biogas production or as a raw material for animal feed. In this way, the solution contributes to the circular economy. The new pilot set-up supports a more data-driven and professional approach: by testing with the actual residual stream in advance, capacity, process settings, and the desired application can be better tailored.
