Quality so consistent, your customers can’t resist
Consistently meeting your customers’ quality requirements season after season strengthens your reputation as a reliable supplier. Equipped with Ellips True-AI technology for internal and external defect detection, the Elisam CombiSorter analyzes every potato and onion with exceptional accuracy. The system evaluates product characteristics such as size, weight, color, and detects defects including:
Potatoes: wireworm, scab, sprouting, internal browning, hollow hearts and dry matter.
Onions: rot, mold, sprouting, fusarium, root tear, balding and mechanical damage.
Every potato and onion count, and every minute of grading matters. That’s why the Elisam CombiSorter is built for speed, flexibility and exceptional grading capacity with throughput up to 15 t/h. The automated grading process helps you hit volume targets, meet tight delivery deadlines and quickly respond to last-minute orders without compromising grading quality. The Elisam CombiGrader brings potato and onion grading together on one compact platform for small and mid-sized packhouses (5,000–20,000 tonnes annually). Specially designed geometric cups position both crops for scanning; crop-specific Ellips True-AI models interpret their characteristics. Operators select crop settings with one click, within seconds. Internal light-transmission inspection (up to 20 scans per item) detects hidden defects, combined with external quality, size and weight grading in a single pass. Produce is directed without compressed-air ejection.
Added value for the user (in commercial terms, user-friendliness ...)
One compact system replaces separate grading lines, reducing investment, maintenance and floor space. Operators switch crops with one click and grading settings can be adapted to customer specifications. Sorting recovers marketable produce for the best possible margins: in illustrative Elisam cases (20,000 tonnes, approx. 20% defects) annual product-value uplift is approx. €2.4–2.6 million. Reducing manual sorting from 20 to three people saves €573,750 annually, indicating simple payback of less than six months on an assumed €1.3 million investment.
Added value for the further sustainability and professionalization of the potato sector.
Compressed-air-free ejection avoids the energy demand, cost and associated CO₂ emissions of generating compressed air. Recovering saleable produce and separating residual-value streams helps minimise actual waste from each harvest. Together, this can reduce the operation's carbon footprint and support packhouses' sustainability credentials. Objective internal and external inspection, less dependence on manual sorting and packing to customer specifications professionalise grading in the potato and onion sector.
