Moisture-Sense

What is new?

The Aquantis Moisture-Sense addresses the need for inline bulk moisture analysis for the French Fries industry. The sensor combines ultra-low power microwave technology and artificial intelligence to achieve continuous and accurate moisture/dry matter measurements. The unique design of the transmitter and receiver ensures consistency and reliability of the results (patent pending). The same technology is compatible with both drying and frying processes with minimal calibration.

What is the added value for the user?

The Aquantis Moisture-Sense provides continuous quality control and real-time feedback of the moisture content. The factories can replace the current labor intensive quality control procedure using operator-independent inline measurements and reallocate the man power. Real-time feedback is key to optimize and automate the drying and frying processes of French Fries. Consequently, the production can get closer to the moisture content targets resulting in increased production efficiencies and lower energy costs. The estimated profits using the sensor range from 600 000 to 900 000 Euro. The Moisture-Sense can be easily integrated in new and existing machinery and connected to factory network. Via the web interface you have access to the data everywhere and anytime. The Moisture-Sense drives further digitalization of industrial production of French fries. Industry 4.0 flat out.

What is the added value for the further sustainability and professionalization of the potato sector?

The Moisture-Sense professionalize the industry by making moisture measurements operator independent. Inline dry matter data makes it possible to see the impact of the different process parameters on the dry matter and make as such a self-regulating production model. The Moisture-Sense is also the driving force towards more sustainable production in the following ways:

1) Reduced energy consumption: by fine tuning the drying and frying processes based on the dry matter content, the overall energy costs drop.

2) Increased potato efficiency inside the factory: less potatoes are needed for same amount of product as a result of less waste.

3) Positive environmental impact outside the factory: higher potato efficiency leads to the reduction of the number of trucks on the road for transportation, the amount of farming grounds, pesticides, irrigation, pollution, etc.
