ARGUMENTATION ABOUT THE INNOVATIVE CHARACTER
The Manter SmartLine (MSL) is a line control system that enables the operator to operate the packing line from one location. It communicates with every machine and reduces line change-over times by changing the configuration of all machines at once. The SmartLine's order management functionality enables the packing station manager to prioritize orders. Furthermore, it provides insights on work in progress and informs the remaining time for producing orders. In the future, it will synchronize with the customer's ERP or MES systems and easily integrate into every packing station. Market surveys have shown that the unavailability of skilled labor all over the world makes MSL the desired system for every operator, manager and owner of a packing station. Manter is the first company to launch such a system that is both modular and scalable, by adding modules to existing machines that translate machine data to MSL and vice versa.
ADDED VALUE FOR THE USER (IN COMMERCIAL TERMS, USER-FRIENDLINESS ...)
It is increasingly difficult to find qualified staff to operate the equipment. MSL is supporting managers and operators of packing stations to run and monitor the equipment. From one screen the operator can select which machine should run with pre-defined settings and orders can be processed most efficiently. Change-over times are reduced to a minimum, and the chance of human error is reduced. Overproduction of batches belongs to the past because of the ability to just produce the amount of bags sold. And the infeed section of the packing is stopped in time to ensure that the packing line is empty when the order is ready. And for the manager of the packing station, MSL comes with a nice management information tool that provides insights into the performance of the line and each individual machine.
ADDED VALUE FOR THE FURTHER SUSTAINABILITY AND PROFESSIONALIZATION OF THE POTATO SECTOR
MSL keeps track of the product in the line and will be able to, for example, stop the infeed section of a packing line early on to prevent transporting too much product. In this way, it contributes to reducing the spillage of products. Also, it will be able to give early warnings when packing machines will run out of packing material. This reduces changeover time, lowers costs and time can be used more efficiently. By using MSL, the companies get a better overview of the efficiency of the equipment and can schedule their investments accordingly. Technology is becoming smarter, and humans are increasingly supported, both in thinking and execution. Human error will reduce as technology increases. More consumer packages can be packed in a shorter time with less spillage.
