The agronomic experimentation department of the C.A.R.A.H. independently compares, according to rigorous statistical models and in real growing conditions, different inputs such as varieties, plant protection products and fertilizers (mainly nitrogen). Based on these tests, the service issues advice and recommendations to producers. The C.A.R.A.H. specializes in cereal crop science, comparison of corn varieties and phytosanitary protection of potatoes, chicory weeding, etc. It also extends its experimental activities to industrial vegetables, viticulture, hemp, catch crops, MAE and modes of alternative productions (organic culture). The Warnings department of the Experimentation department deals with late blight and alternaria in potatoes, but also in other crops (vines, corn, cereals, rapeseed, etc.). This department stands out in particular for its “VigiMAP” Decision Support Tool, which allows farmers to better manage their treatments in the fight against potato late blight.
